Abstract

Management of labor discipline is currently one of the factors of the company’s performance, however, the existing methods of strengthening labor discipline do not correspond to modern trends in personnel management. In the Russian practice, the mechanisms of detailed regulation of activities prevail, establishing a rigid framework of behavior and punishment for violations. However, as sociological studies and management practice show, these measures are not sufficient to create an optimal level of labor discipline. The secondary research revealed that the behavior of the employee is determined to a greater extent by his desire, his importance in the system of social and labor relations. Consequently, the reserves for improving the management of labor discipline should be sought in other forms and methods, such as moral incentives, the development of solidarity, and the management of staff involvement.

In the study of labor discipline management in OOO Storm Marine Holding, a shipping company, a comprehensive approach and a set of methods were used: document analysis, a sociological survey in the form of interviewing and questioning, and observation. Violations, economic losses due to violations of labor discipline and applied disciplinary measures were detected; the level of involvement of personnel in various categories. The relationship between violations of labor discipline and employee loyalty level is shown.

It is concluded that the strengthening of labor discipline is a complex management task, built on the principle of combining measures of organizing and regulatory impact on the regulation of labor behavior and prevention of violations of labor discipline. As part of the complex task of strengthening discipline, a number of possible measures have been proposed, the effectiveness of which has been tested in management practice.
